Notice is hereby given that the Santa Rosa City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 100 Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa Rosa, California.  The purpose of this meeting is to hold a Joint Meeting with the Santa Rosa City School Board.  No other business will be discussed by the Council at this meeting.

2. 2  PUBLIC COMMENT (PUBLIC COMMENT IS LIMITED TO ITEMS WHICH ARE THE SUBJECT OF THE SPECIAL MEETING)

3. JOINT STUDY SESSION

3.1 3  UPDATE TO BOARD AND CITY COUNCIL ON THE SRCS BUDGET AND IMPORTANCE OF THE JUNE BALLOT

The Santa Rosa City Schools’ Board of Education and Santa Rosa City Council will hear an update on the current budget situation with City Schools and discuss the importance of the June ballot to extend certain state taxes for two more years as proposed by Governor Brown.

3.2 4  UPDATE ON PROGRESS IN COMMUNICATING INFORMATION ON THE PERTUSSIS (WHOOPING COUGH) IMMUNIZATION ISSUE FOR ALL GRADES 7-12 STUDENTS

The Santa Rosa City Schools’ Board of Education and Santa Rosa City Council will hear an update on communicating that all grades 7-12 students must show proof of a Pertussis (Whooping Cough) shot before enrolling in school for the 2011-12 school year and 7th graders for the 2012-13 school year.

3.3 5  UPDATE ON MAYOR’S GANG PREVENTION TASK FORCE

A presentation will be made highlighting the partnership and activities of the Recreation, Parks and Community Services Department, the Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force and the SRCS District. 

3.4 6  UPDATE ON SRCS CAREER PATHWAYS

A presentation will be made regarding the Santa Rosa City School’s Career Pathways Program .The City Council and Santa Rosa City School Board will discuss how this program may integrate with the City’s Economic Development Efforts.

3.5 7  DETERMINATION OF TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED AT FUTURE JOINT MEETINGS OF THE SANTA ROSA CITY SCHOOLS’ BOARD OF EDUCATION AND SANTA ROSA CITY COUNCIL

The Santa Rosa City Schools’ Board of Education and Santa Rosa City Council will  identify topics to be discussed at future joint meetings and direct staff as to which topics they which to focus on.
